50 YEARS OF ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

Hue is a center for training the talented and the gifted for the country. Since the establishment of the Imperial College, higher education in Hue has had a history of more than two centuries (1803-2008).

In March 1957, Hue University was initially founded with four higher education faculties: Faculty of Teachers' Training, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Law.

Then, there included the Faculty of Medicine and other training centers. After the reunification of our country (1975), independent colleges were established on the basis of the existing faculties: Hue College of Pedagogy, the University of Hue, Hue College of Medicine. In 1983, the Agricultural College No II was displaced from Ha Bac province to Hue city and renamed College of Agriculture and Forestry.

In 1994, pursuant to Decree No 30 - CP of the Government issued on April 4th, Hue University came into existence. This event marked a new stage in the development of higher education in Hue. From then on, the number of students, training programs, as well as the affiliated colleges have continuously increased. Now, Hue University is a multi-disciplinary and multi-field training center with 7 affiliated colleges and two faculties under the direct management of Hue University: College of Education, College of Sciences, College of Medicine and Pharmacy, College of Agriculture and Forestry, College of Arts, College of Economics, College of Foreign Languages and Faculty of Physical Education, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism. It also includes institute, centers for training and scientific research: Distance Learning Center, Institute for Resources, Environment and Biotechnology, Center for National Defensive Education, Learning Resource Center, Center for Information Technology, Center for Pre-doctoral Training, and Center for Student Services.
Hue University is a big training center in Central Vietnam with 90 undergraduate training programs for Degree of Bachelor, Engineering, Architect, Medical doctor, and Dentist; 61 graduate training programs; 33 training programs for medical specialists level I, medical specialists level II and resident physicians; and 22 PhD training programs.

With its long history of establishment and development, Hue University has trained thousands of scientists, medical doctors and teachers. Thanks to continuous endeavors and great achievements, Hue University was awarded with Independence Order - rank 3 (1998), Independence Order - rank 2 (2002) and many other noble titles.

Hue University is a multi-disciplinary university, diversifying in training methods. It aims at training highly qualified scientific and administrative officers; providing a wide range of dynamic careers which carry typical cultural characteristics of the region; and offering suitable solutions for the full growth of training activities in both quantity and quality.

Hue University is a center for scientific research with a large number of important research projects and programs. These programs are not restricted in limited fields.

They, on the contrary, can be combined with other sciences or can be expanded to meet the short-term as well as long-term demands of the region and the country.
Hue University pays special attention to the combination of fundamental and technological science, of research and application in order to best accommodate the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.
