The workshop co-hosted by Hue University College of Science, Institute of South East Asian Studies, and National Chinan University, Taiwan on 18 and 19 of April 2011 aimed at reproduction of an overall picture of multilateral cooperation between the parties. The workshop was also a chance for scientists, educators, managers, postgraduate and undergraduate students to meet and make academic exchange and to confirm the workshop's practical and scientific significance.
55 reports of Vietnamese and Taiwanese scholars, researchers, lecturers and postgraduate students were selected by the Organizing Committee. The workshop focused on 3 main topics: the policy adjustment of Vietnam, ASEAN and Taiwan in cooperation between Asia-Pacific and East Asia in late 1980s, early 1990s of the 20th century; the relationship between Vietnam, ASEAN and Taiwan in economics, politics, diplomacy, security, national defense, culture, education, science and technology; and Vietnam, ASEAN and Taiwan's roles in East Asia cooperation in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.
