STUDENTS' LIFE
Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union,
With a total of
more than 18.000 members, the Students Association of Hue University
was founded for the following purposes:
- Promoting the
schooling and training of the union members and students; helping
them complete their tasks in studies and in life, and contribute to
the firm development of the university.
- Educating the
moral, traditions, life ideology, and law consciousness to the
members and students
- Encouraging
students to study actively and take part in social activities
- Developing
cooperative relations with other students' organisations in the
world for the sake of peace, national independence,democracy, and
social development.
Clubs
Tutor clubs, dancing
clubs, poetry-lover clubs are environments for students to
participate
in to relax after a day of hard work. They are also activities for
students to exchange experience in studies.
Job consulting center
This center is a
bridge between students and employers, enterprises, and companies
during recruitment period. It is also a place where students can
find information on recruitment, necessary knowledge and skills to
get a job. Both students and graduates are given consultation and
offered useful assistance in finding suitable jobs.
Services
Hue University has
4 dormitories for
about 1,600 undergraduate and graduate coming from other provinces.
These dormitories also offer rooms for candidates and their parents
during their stay in Hue to participate in the entrance exam to the
Hue University.
The health care
system for officials, teachers and students of the Hue University is
arranged as a network, connecting the health care centers at each
affiliated college and other medical centers in the province. As for
emergency cases, patients will be taken to the College of Medicine
Hospital (belonging to Hue University) or to Hue Central Hospital
Library
The Learning
Resource Center, an E-library, aims at providing not only modern lea rning
and teaching materials for teachers and students of Hue University,
but e-learning platform as well. This is also a center to provide
access to and exchange educational programs and information with
other colleges in Vietnam or in other countries.
The Learning
Resource Center (LRC) is well-equipped with modern and comfortable
computers. It includes studying areas as well as reserved rooms for
conferences, seminars, and training workshops. In addition, each
affiliated college has its own library with different scales to
assist students, teachers, and staffs in studying, teaching, and
researching.
International students at Hue University
Being assigned by
the Ministry of Education and Training, since 2002 Hue University
has received Laotian students to enroll their full-time studying in
its affiliated colleges. Currently, there are approximately 100
Laotian students studying at Hue University, including those of
regular undergradu ate
training program and those of an collaborative program between Thua
Thien Hue province and some Laotian bordering provinces. Moreover,
many other Laotian graduate students are attending Masters training
courses here. Every year, Hue University holds such activities as:
meetings between the board of leaders of Hue University and Laotian
students; and many other activities to celebrate the traditional
holidays and the National day of Laotian people.
The International
Center of Hue University have also welcomed many students from
different countries who come here to study, to visit the country and
to take part in cultural exchanges with Vietnamese students.
Besides, Hue
University also receives foreign students who comes to Hue for
internship and for research in the framework of bilateral
cooperations with other universities in the world.
Educational Activities

Holding forums and
discussions among students not only to identify their particular
needs and aspirations but also to orient them to sound thoughts and
actions;

Keeping students
aware of domestic and international political and social events
through the information system of the Youth Union;
-
Encouraging the
development of clubs to offer students opportunities to participate
in useful and wholesome activities;
-
Organising outdoor
activities, training, and practicing skills in community activities.

Holding contests to
help students learn more about the traditions and history of our
country, about our Party, Uncle Ho and the tradition of the
Communist Youth Union and Students' Association;
-
Educating students
the responsibility in studying and in social activities as well as
setting good examples for students in studying and training by org anising
talks between historical
witnesses and students, and encouraging students to participate in
gratitude repaying programs;

Opening new columns in the
college's newsletter about typical examples of the 8 values:
patriotism, piousness, respect to teachers, charity, eagerness to
study, honesty, disciplinary and economical consciousness;

Launching competitive
campaigns among students in studying and in training;
-
Organizing class-level
talks and forums on the values and lifestyle of students;
-
Promoting good examples as
well as criticizing bad habits among students.
Etracurricular activities
Many social, cultural,
sporting and other recreational activities are organized to exchange
relationships and promote propaganda. Also, these activities aim to
introduce typical features of the local culture to other regions all
over the country.
Sporting activities help
to orient and meet healthy entertainment needs among students. In
addition, there are many cultural festivals, Healthy Youth
festivities, games, competitions, singing and sporting activities
among the affiliated colleges of Hue University, between the
colleges and military units or between the colleges and local people
living near the college campuses.
Student volunteer
movements, environmental protection activities, humanitarian blood
donation as well as crime prevention, and drugs and social evils
prevention are developed and strengthened. Those activities are
carried out together with the development of volunteer works and the
establishment of diversified volunteer contingents. Hue University,
moreover, promotes volunteer movements among students, organizes the
signing of three “NO's” among students and implements programs on
school drugs prevention.
Hue University also
promotes the care for local needy children, sponsoring children with
exceptionally difficult situations to go to school, offering
children's bookcases, organizing children playgrounds and frequently
visiting, giving presents to and playing with disabled and
disadvantaged children. Youth unions, in addition, make plans for
mobilizing, assigning union members to participate in "classes for
love” at their localities.
The annual summer
volunteer student campaigns are organized for very realistic
purposes:

To promte and offer
education;

To give instructions in
economic development, hunger alleviation and poverty reduction along
with population control and family planning;

To participate in
activities showing gratitude to those who have contributed to the
country.

To offer free check-ups
and medicine, to repair houses, to give presents to poor households
and elementary pupils with good or rather good studies results.
In addition, the annual
program “Fortifying the examinees in university entrance exam
seasons” is enthusiastically endorsed by Hue University's students
as a means to the successful completion of the entrance exams.
